The Truth About hCG for Weight Loss

The Truth About hCG for Weight Loss

After reading this article, I'd like to add my own opinion about hCG for weight loss.  I have participated in the program and lost an amazing 14 pounds in one week.  Needless to say, I had an excruciating headache!  I was very prone to migraines and the sudden surge in hormonal release caused a major migraine.  Eventually, the migraines subsided.  I used a diet that was NOT a 500 calorie diet.  I modified  the diet to 900 calories per day and increased vitamins, probiotics, and energizers .

The only problem with the program was the course of injectables that were needed daily.  It seemed like a bit of an inconvenience because it turned into a daily chore...and who likes chores?  A hectic work schedule seemed to get in the way of the "daily stick" of the hCG, so I frequently missed scheduled injections.  Even though I didn't stick to the schedule, I still lost weight!

After six weeks on the program, I decided to discontinue the program because it was very expensive.  I continued with the 900 calorie diet, but lost the weight at a slower pace.  My weight loss of 14 pounds in one week went to 3 pounds per week.  I still had no complaints!  Any weight loss is a good weight loss! The program did jumpstart my weight loss goals and I continue to lose weight on a weekly basis with better nutrition, exercise, and establishing new weight loss goals weekly.

So, for those professionals who refuse to believe that the hCG diet program does not work, try it out yourself.  You will be amazed at the results that you get!  For a less expensive method of hCG, try the oral drops.

Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis Diet

Weak spots that develop in the colon walls that cause the lining to bulge out is called diverticulum. When these areas become inflammed, it is called diverticulitis. Diverticulosis is the condition that is caused by inflammed diverticula. Now that all the medical terms are out of the way, the symptoms that the inflammation causes are sometimes severe. These include: cramping in the lower abdomen, constipation, and sometimes nausea and vomiting. Severe problems may cause fistulas in the colon, bleeding, and tears in the lining that result in surgery.

To avoid inflammation in diverticulosis conditions, a diverticulosis diet of high-fiber foods are recommended.

The "Irritable bowel" diet: An ADDS dietary plan for those with irritable bowel syndrome and diverticulosis (ADDS dietary plans)

Breads, cereals and beans
All-bran cereals
Fruits like apples, pears, raspberries
Vegetables like squash, broccoli, cauliflower, turnip greens and carrots.

Avoid all nuts, popcorn, sesame seeds, etc. as they may block the colon and increase inflammation.

Holiday Eating

During the holidays, there is a need to eat lots and lots of goodies. You are invited to many cookouts and parties and wonder how can you lose weight at all these parties?

Well, it's simple than you think! The way to manage holiday eating is to stick to this formula: one protein, two veggies, one carbohydrate, lots of water, and a small desert.

Most cookouts have lots of chicken, fish, steak, hamburgers, turkey, etc. so take one serving from this protein selection. Add at least two servings from the vegetable selection and your plate is almost full! You will have room for a small serving of pasta (pasta salad, macaroni salad, etc.) which is enough carbs for the meal. This leaves room for a small desert.

Most cookouts will serve fruit platters or ice cream. Have a slice of watermelon, honeydew, or pineapple; these water filled fruits will fill you up so that you can have @ 1000 calories and still have some room to play! So lose weight and get some! Frank Dandy

Childhood Obesity

The new definition of a child that is considered at risk of being overweight is where the BMI is over 85%. When a child exceeds 95% of the BMI, he or she is considered overweight. If the child has no medical complications, the range for gauging obesity starts at age 7. If the child is between ages 2 and 7, a weight loss plan should be initiated. The CDC uses growth charts to analyze if a child is overweight (Fowler-Brown, 2004). The use of these growth charts are promoted in schools, summer camps, and sports programs so that obesity is detected early in the childhood as a method for intervention.

obesity treatment

This new definition is considered useful because the child has already established poor eating habits that have been the responsibility of the parent. It becomes very difficult to change eating habits unless it is initiated by the entire family. Early detection of poor eating habits will help to identify these problems and correct them.

Probiotic Enzymes

The consequences and health effects of childhood overweight exposes the child to type 2 diabetes, coronary artery disease, and hypertension. Sleep disorders are also an effect caused by obesity. The child is unable to breathe during sleep causing sleep apnea (Mayoclinic.com). These health problems affect the child’s ability to develop into a healthy adult. Depression and poor social skills may also lead to childhood obesity.

Prevention of childhood obesity lies in increasing exercise, calorie restriction, lifestyle exercise changes, and decrease in sedentary behavior (Fowler-Brown, 2004). Making lifestyle changes by eating less fatty foods and decreasing the length of time spent in front of the television will help to prevent childhood obesity.

Intervention of childhood obesity begins by recognizing those at risk earlier. Most schools and summer programs use BMI charts to identify those at risk. Prevention methods can begin right away. These interventions include removing snack machines out of the schools, making physical education a requirement, and providing nutritional choices for meal plans (Grodner, 2007). Integrating these changes in schools provide better outcomes in early intervention plans.

A specific application for the general approach to therapy is to provide a caloric-restriction approach. Calorie restriction can be monitored by parents by planning meals using mypyramid.gov (Fowler-Brown, 2004). Calories of foods eaten can be documented and monitored based on each food group. Balanced meals can be prepared so that better food choices are made in the future.

Recipe for Vegan Quiche

For all you Vegan's looking for a great recipe, try this one!  It's very tasty, and full of good stuff!  It is very simple to prepare as well!  If you are looking for a great meal to fill you up, try this one!

Vegan Quiche

1 onion

6 mushrooms

1 pepper

2 cloves garlic

1 tsp. cooking oil to fry the veggies

250 g shortcrust pastry

250 g plain or smoked tofu

1tsp. of soya milk

Salt and pepper, to taste

1/3 block of soy cheese

7 cherry tomatoes, halved

• Preheat the oven to about 400°F.

• Chop the vegetables and garlic finely and fry in the oil over low heat until soft. Roll out the pastry or press into a quiche dish with your fingers. Blind bake in the oven for 5 minutes.

• Chop the tofu roughly and blend, along with the soya milk, salt and pepper, into a smooth paste in the blender.

• Remove the veggies from the heat and the quiche dish from the oven. Pour the blended tofu into the pan with the veggies and stir. You will see liquid rising from the vegetables, diluting the tofu mixture. Grate the soya cheese into the mixture until it stiffens. Dollop the mixture into the pastry-lined quiche dish and garnish with the cherry tomatoes. Bake for about an hour or until brown on top (VegCooking.com). This recipe yields 4 servings at 246 calories per serving.

Fad Diets

Okay, it's been a minute since I've updated. Had to look at some crazy fad diets that I recently reviewed. The craziest fad diet that shook me was the cookie diet!

Dr. Siegal's Cookie Diet states, "Our famous cookies control your hunger and help you stick to your diet. Each Weekly Box contains 7 Daily Bags of 6 cookies each and replaces 14 meals at a cost of about $4.28 per replaced meal when used as suggested." By replacing your daily meals with 6 cookies, this diet boasts significant weight loss...and you can "save money" by replacing your usual daily expenses for the purchase of food.

Any diet that restricts healthy, nutritious food, for a replacement by a simple cookie will DEFINITELY make you lose weight! wHAT ABOUT REAL FOOD???

I'm sure you all have seen many other fad diets other than the cookie diet! Tell me about it!

The Way To Weight Loss

It's 2010 and we have to keep up with our New Year's Resolutions. The most promised and unkept resolution of all is to lose more weight! We tend to fall short of our goals because we have problems choosing how to get started. If your friend can lose 10 pounds in one week on a diet...then we should be able to lose 10 pounds as well. This belief is what ruins our goals! To get us on the right track, we have to begin with choosing what will work for us as an individual.

Your way to weight loss consists of:
--analyzing your daily food intake
--count your calories and carbohydrates
--decide on your correct eating schedule
--have the right dessert twice a week
--find a few minutes in the day for exercise

If we use these methods to setting goals, we find that there is no need to diet to lose weight! We can set proper goals, find out what foods are making us fat, make small changes, and drop those pounds! Once we decide on the way to get started, we can customize the proper foods that will help us to lose weight successfully.
